A Linux email client should belong in the terminal too

Brev combines a local mail engine with a versioned command line and native desktop interface. It does not currently ship a supported Linux binary or GUI.

Local mail is useful beyond a graphical inbox

Brev treats commands, structured output and local search as product surfaces. That model fits terminal workflows without turning the mailbox into an unstructured collection of files.

The current CLI contract uses opaque identifiers, versioned JSON and defined errors.

One local mail model

Search, drafts and mailbox actions follow the same domain behavior as the graphical client.

Provider-aware state

Gmail labels and standards-based folders do not have to be flattened into one inaccurate abstraction.

Why not simply use Thunderbird

Thunderbird is available now, open source and mature across Linux providers. Brev is relevant if a smaller programmable client with a stable CLI is worth paying for. That proposition still needs real Linux demand, which is why this page collects interest rather than offering software.

Choose Thunderbird when breadth matters now

Brev does not match Thunderbird's current Linux availability, extension ecosystem or provider history. The interest list is for people whose terminal and automation workflows leave a meaningful gap despite those strengths.
